Because they had presented the flag of Israel:
LKA investigates „agitators“

The Saarland LKA (State Office of Criminal Investigation), department “Staatsschutz” (i.e. concerned with political delicts), investigates antifascists who are suspected of having “provoked” an anti-Israeli manifestation in Saarbrücken on Monday, the 24th of July 2006 by presenting the flag of Israel; police says the antifascist had offended against the right of assembly.

On July the 24th, 2006, a demonstration for “peace” in Lebanon and against Israel was hold in the city centre of Saarbrücken (Saarland, Germany). About 300 to 400 protesters, many of them staffed with Lebanese flags and pictures showing horrible damaged dead bodies of children and other atrocity propaganda, took part in the demonstration. In Bahnhofstraße (pedestrian zone, main shopping street of Saarbrücken), near the “Thalia” book store, three antifascist activists protested against this one-sided and anti-Semitic demonstration where slogans like “Israel – child murderer” have been shouted and posters with anti-Semitic stereotypes have been shown, by presenting two Israeli flags towards the crowd. They were immediately attacked and beaten by about 50 demonstrators; the attackers robbed of one of the flags and frazzled it into pieces and injured one of the antifascists by beating him into his face.

Now the Saarland State Office of Criminal Investigation (LKA) is investigating against the „agitators“ for „offending against the right of assembly“. At least one person who is suspected by the police to have taken part in the described “provocation”, got a citation to a police interrogation because of “Offending against the right of assembly” and “troubling an assembly” (maybe not the correct term, the original term in German law is “Versammlungssprengung”).

Alexander Breser, spokesperson of Antifa Saar / Projekt AK (Saarbrücken), comments on the investigations by the police: “Isn’t it paradoxical, that preliminary proceedings are initiated against people who simply had shown their disagreement with this anti-Israeli march by presenting the flag of Israel, and who had been beaten by the self-appointed peacekeepers? On the other hand, the police seem not to care about the attackers from this 24th of July.”

So, the facts – who were the attackers during this struggle two months ago, and who was attacked – are completely misrepresented. The Staatsschutz Saarland seems to accept violent attacks on people who are protesting with textile flags as a proper act of justifiable self-defence.

Alexander Breser elaborates on this: „That some of these ‘friends of peace’ had gone hunting the pro-Israel antifascists through the city, armed with wooden slats, to drum their imagination of ‘peace’ into them, seems to be of no interest.”

Antifa Saar / Projekt AK claims the immediate dismissal of these investigations against antifascists!
